This concerns absentee landlords..
✓ Make friends with your neighbors
✓ Get to know the LC chairman and keep his contact. If anything show him where your land is located briefly
✓ Get to know your local police and maintain contact with the OC
✓ Find someone to stay on the land but with an agreement about their status on the land
✓ Demarcate your boundaries if possible
✓ When visiting the area chairman or neighbor friend, take them some freebies to maintain relationships
✓ Make it a point to always visit your land whenever you visit the country or occassionally send someone(a neutral person) to keep watch
✓ Don’t just share your land details with anybody outside your circles
✓ Ensure you transfer ownership into your names. Clear all balances if any
✓ If unsure of developments on your land, caveat it.
✓ Occassionally make it your practise to do searches on the land to establish its circumstances. This will give you comfort that all is well.
These and more are basic survival techniques that are applicable to our UG situation. Abafeere can come in all forms.
Yours sincerely,
